JC Løkkes Maskinfabrik – or simply LØKKE – is a family-owned Danish manufacturing company based in Bøvlingbjerg in Western Jutland.
Founded in 1960, the company has developed from a traditional machine shop into a high-tech manufacturing business that designs, produces, and installs grain drying plants, conveying systems, and custom-made steel structures.
With more than 60 years of experience, LØKKE is today the leading supplier of drying systems for Danish agriculture – systems used for drying and handling grain and seeds directly on farms.
In addition, the company operates as a subcontractor within metal processing for industrial customers, offering services such as laser cutting, bending, punching, welding, powder coating, and final assembly.
At LØKKE, the entire value chain is gathered under one roof, and the company is known for handling complex tasks in-house – combining craftsmanship, machinery, and many years of know-how.
The existing Axapta system had been heavily customized over the years and had reached its technical and functional limits, making it difficult to support the company’s continued development.
The absence of effective inventory management and clear, accessible data created challenges in daily operations—particularly during stock counts, production follow-ups, and financial closings.
The generational transition highlighted the need for more structured workflows and a solid data foundation, ensuring that both production and administration could keep pace with the company’s development.
The collaboration with 9altitudes was characterized by good chemistry, trust, and competent advisory support, with a strong focus on the standard solution combined with a phased and transparent implementation.
The implementation challenged and modernized existing workflows, and super users in production helped colleagues adopt the solution.
When the company recently initiated a generational transition, it also marked the starting point for a more strategic modernization of both production and administration.
The existing IT system, Axapta, which had been customized and expanded over many years, had reached its limits. The lack of proper inventory management and clear data created challenges in daily operations – especially during stock counts, production follow-ups, and financial closings.
“We reached a point where we needed to rethink the way we work – not because the old system hadn’t served us well, but because we needed more structure and transparency. As the company grows, we need to keep up both in production and in the office,” says Thomas Steensgaard Løkke, co-owner of JC Løkkes Maskinfabrik.
The need for greater structure and transparency across processes became clear.
To maintain flexibility in production while establishing a solid data foundation for decision-making, a modern ERP solution was required.
It has made a huge difference in our day-to-day work. We have much better control of orders and inventory, and things flow more naturally now. There is less manual data entry, and we can spend our time on what actually creates value in production.
Following advice from the company’s auditor, Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central was selected as the new platform.
The reasons were clear: the solution represents a modern and future-proof platform with continuous updates, and Microsoft as a vendor provides both stability and confidence. At the same time, the system meets a key need for efficient inventory management and the ability to bring finance, production, and inventory together in one unified system.
Alternatives were considered, but experience from other companies and the desire for a robust solution made Business Central the obvious choice.
After an initial dialogue with another vendor, where the chemistry was not quite right, LØKKE reached out directly to 9altitudes. Together, the implementation was planned with a strong focus on simplicity and rebuilding core processes.
Here, the company experienced good chemistry and trust, competent advisory support focused on the standard solution while allowing for necessary adjustments, and a structured process with workshops and step-by-step implementation that created clarity and peace of mind.
As Thomas Steensgaard Løkke puts it: “It has been healthy for us to be challenged on our old ways of working – and we have been guided incredibly well through the process.”
With Business Central, along with tools such as Job Manager and Continia Document Capture, LØKKE now has a unified digital overview of production, inventory, and invoice flows.
The results are clearly felt in everyday operations:
Super users in production have helped colleagues get started, and the solution has quickly become a natural part of daily operations.
“It has made a huge difference in our day-to-day work. We have much better control of orders and inventory, and things flow more naturally now. There is less manual data entry, and we can spend our time on what actually creates value in production,” says Thomas Steensgaard Løkke, co-owner of JC Løkkes Maskinfabrik.
For JC Løkkes Maskinfabrik, digitalization has not been about changing the company’s DNA – but about strengthening what already works.
With a solid foundation in Danish industry and close collaboration with both agriculture and industrial customers, LØKKE is a clear example of how traditional craftsmanship and modern technology can go hand in hand.
As the company itself puts it:
“We still build on the same values as we did 60 years ago – quality, reliability, and collaboration. Now we have a system that helps us hold on to those values, even in a more digital age,” says Thomas Steensgaard Løkke, co-owner of JC Løkkes Maskinfabrik.
